When you open up a bag of Bloom, you’re hit with an intense sweet and floral smell that reminds us of an early summer evening, when it’s humid and the scent of blooming flowers is thick in the air.
Anyone who knows natural coffees from Africa, looks forward to the sugary sweet flavours of berries and jam. This coffee is no exception, when we brew it on filter we taste sweedish berries and milk chocolate. Brewed over ice it reminds us of peach pie. As with other natural coffees, there is very low acidity in the cup.
This lot comes from the Humure washing station, and remarkably is traceable back to the Athanase Ndagijimana farm. The farm consists of 5 family members, and represents 1 of 4 farms that Baho coffee has worked with this season to isolate day lots. Typically coffees at Humure are blended from the 1500 smallholder farms in the surrounding hills, so this is a remarkable achievement to have isolated coffee from a single farm. The goal is to increase pay for coffee cherries, and to recognize the exceptional farming practices that has led to this exceptional coffee.
